Q:    What's an Alchemist?

A:    Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary defines an alchemist as "one who studies or practices alchemy".

Q:    And so what is "alchemy"?

A:    Again, we turn to the dictionary.  There are three meanings:

1 : a medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy aiming to achieve the transmutation of the base metals into gold, the discovery of a universal cure for disease, and the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life

2 : a power or process of transforming something common into something special

3 : an inexplicable or mysterious transmuting

To sum it all up, examples of alchemy are turning lead into gold, water into wine, red backed cards into blue backed cards, etc.  In other words, MAGIC!!!
